More Dutch Classics

Twenty new classics

Info

More Dutch Classics contains four sections: fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, and poetry. Each section has its own specific color and opens with a distinctive photo and a table of contents.
By applying a Japanese binding method and die-cutting the page on the right, a unique layout is created. This results in six pages per book. On the left is the book description, on the right an image of the book itself with a short summary above it and the specifications below. When you open this right-hand page, you see a translated passage. The biography is placed on the opposite page and includes a photo of the author.

To create this layout, the printed sheets were first folded and then cut open, after which they were bound and trimmed. This creates a fold-out and a slim strip of paper in the spine. This strip displays the title of the publication on one side and the relevant section on the other.
On the cover, I included a portrait of Anton de Kom from 1922.

This publication is part of a brochure series I developed for the Dutch Foundation for Literature. See also: Dutch Children’s Books, New Dutch Poetry, Dutch Non-fiction, and More Dutch Fiction.
Dutch Classics is an earlier selection of classics that I designed.
