Paperzine is a compact paper collection consisting of a box with lid, containing 2 x 28 different paper samples.
What makes Paperzine a unique tool, is the fact that the different paper samples were printed with the same images. In this way it is immediately clear what a color, grid or a specific line thickness on a particular paper will look. The different papers can therefore be easily compared with each other. In order to be able to properly assess hue, surface and opacity, unprinted sheets of all variants have also been added. The two sets are held together by a paper band on which the content is displayed.
Besides the design of the box and the Paperzine sheets, I was responsible for the image selection for this project. The unique photos as printed on the 28 sheets, were taken by Louise te Poele.

Paperzine is een compacte papiercollectie bestaande uit een doos met deksel met daarin 2 x 28 papiersoorten.
Wat Paperzine tot een uniek hulpmiddel maakt, is het feit dat alle papiersoorten met dezelfde bedrukking zijn uitgevoerd. Zo is direct inzichtelijk wat een kleur, raster of een specifieke lijndikte op een bepaald papier betekent. De verschillende papieren zijn hierdoor uitstekend met elkaar te vergelijken. Om tint, oppervlak en opaciteit goed te kunnen beoordelen, zijn van alle varianten ook onbedrukte vellen toegevoegd. Hierop staan alleen de technische specificaties aangegeven. De twee sets worden bijeengehouden door een banderol waarop de inhoud is weergegeven.
Naast het ontwerp van de doos en de Paperzine bladen, deed ik ook de beeldselectie. De bijzondere foto’s zoals afgedrukt op de 28 bladen zijn gemaakt door Louise te Poele.

Journalist Mac van Dinther spent a year in Ketelbroek food forest in Groesbeek, to explore, taste and talk. He reported on this in a four-part series of articles: Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer in Dutch newspaper de Volkskrant. These articles are now bundled in this book, supplemented with a preface, epilogue, food forest recipes and plant descriptions.
The images were taken by Henk Wildschut. In addition to the photos that he made for the de Volkskrant articles, many previously unpublished images have been included in ‘Het voedselbos’.
